A Day in the Life
A 1980’S NEWSAGENT, PEACEFUL GALLERY & JAPANESE NOSTALGIA WITH CHINASA

A Day in the Life takes you into the everyday of local creatives and business owners as they show you the best of their city.
Chinasa is the founder and creative director of Weruzo, homewares designed and crafted by African artisans. Currently living in Stanmore, England, we caught up with Chinasa on her favourite spots to visit in London.
Backstory on Weruzo
“Weruzo is a collection of lifestyle and design objects embodying an ongoing creative collaboration with African cultural and craft histories. We work with African artisans to not only produce beautiful objects but to preserve the history that inspires them and the traditional craftsmanship used to make them as these methods are often on the verge of disappearing. I hope each Weruzo piece tells a story of rich cultural heritage, mythologies and stories and becomes a touchstone for the owner.”
Coming Soon
“Weruzo lifestyle is only four months old now and we have some exciting projects in the works. We’ve just signed up to be a part of Museum of the Home’s Yard Sale in March and we will be launching our second collection in May which we’re very excited about.”

Chinasa stops by Shreeji, a newsagent originally established in the 1980’s, to grab a pastry and browse.
“An elevated newsagent with a coffee and pastry bar and reading room, Shreeji is the loveliest space to browse through magazines and publications. They have a curated mix of sought after, limited edition and obscure print publications available.”

Perusing the Home by RM gallery searching for her next source of creative inspiration.
“My favourite gallery to visit because the space itself is so inviting; there’s a stillness at Home that lets you sink into the space and the exhibitions on view which are always deeply thoughtful and evocative works of art.”

Chinasa meets her childhood best friend for a nostalgic dinner at Misato
“A bit of a hole in the wall restaurant, Misato, is my comfort food go-to. I’ve been going since I was sixteen with one of my best friends and it’s still the one place we gravitate towards whenever we want a quick catch-up with great food. ”
