A Day in the Life takes you into the everyday of local creatives and business owners as they show you the best of their city.

Alexis Kanter, is the founder of En Place, a marketplace filled with sustainable artisan objects from around the globe, to ultimately connect travelers with locally sourced souvenirs. She filled us in on the story behind En Place and her favourite spots in her neighbourhood, Williamsburg.

En Place Backstory.

“As a design enthusiast and former market editor, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel the world with a unique birds-eye view. I've dedicated a lot of time connecting with local makers and young brands, listening to them and telling their stories. I love experiencing new places and always want to take a piece of every new destination home with me. During my travels I’d often shy away from larger purchases because of the inconveniences involved. When I started En Place, I knew that I wanted to build a platform that told the stories of local makers while helping travelers integrate authentically into new communities through purchasing artisan goods with frictionless logistics. Partnering with hotels was a natural extension for us as they support artisans by acting as showrooms in this process; the places where we can see, touch and feel the beautiful local pieces.”

What’s next.

“We are launching exciting collaborations with some new partner properties this summer including Can Lliusso in Mallorca and Eco Hotel El Agua in the Canary Islands.”
