A Day in the Life takes you into the everyday of local creatives and business owners as they show you the best of their city.
Caroline Issa, is a legend in the fashion industry. Currently living in Lisson Grove, London, Caroline is the co-owner of TANK Magazine, Because Magazine and a fashion and retail brand consultant. She let us in on what she’s missing most from pre-COVID: “Travel at the drop of a hat. Seeing family and friends whenever we want. Fashion shows. A normalized level of uncertainty and rhythm v.s. the complete unknown.” Now that she’s in London for the foreseeable future, we caught up with Caroline on her publications, and her everyday locales and favourite spots in the city.
TANK & Because Magazine Backstories.
TANK magazine was launched in 1998 - 22 years later, we continue to publish the voices and creative output of challengers to the status quo, refreshing perspectives that give wider views than just those of the institutionalized "establishment." TANK is a magazine for curious, intelligent culture-seekers who admire beautiful things made with care. Because Magazine is an online platform focused on London and a curated edit of the things we think you should care about and the reasons why.
What’s new at TANK and Because?
TANKtv launched December 2019 as the antidote to the algorithm, of mindless scrolling and content dumps. It's the streaming platform that is #NOTFLIX. We are doing shoppable livestream features regularly now too, a new initiative born out of the pandemic trying to tie together the experiential, the digital and e-commerce. And we remain ever optimistic for independent, quality print titles!

11:00 AM
Starting the day with some self-care at Perfumer H.
A beautiful boutique showcasing the olfactory process of perfumery
“My favourite independent fragrance, candle and now tea shop in Marylebone. Lynn Harris is a fragrance genius and her beautiful boutique and hand blown glass bottles and vessels are just one element of her crafted-with-love and care philosophy. A must visit in London.”
2:00 PM
Browsing handcrafted British homeware and objects at The New Craftsmen.
“This shop full of the best of British design, furniture and objects is where I go to soothe my creative spirit. As the home becomes so much more central to our everyday lives, given so many of us are working from it now too, to be surrounded by beautifully made things is a real gift and this store has got everything and anything you could ever want.”
7:00 PM
In the evening Caroline enjoys walking to her favourite neighbourhood restautant Soutine.
“This restaurant in St John’s Wood near my flat is like a warm hug. Yummy classic bistro fare, but in the London dark Autumnal evenings, its warmth (literally and figuratively) and lighting will comfort you.”
